Cleaning tile grout can be a tedious and time consuming task, but the reward is worth it! By effectively cleaning the grout on your tile floor or shower walls, it will give the appeal of a brand new surface. This is also a task that you may not need to do more than a couple times a year. Before you start on your grout-cleaning-mission, make sure you wipe, vacuum and properly prepare the area from dust, dirt, or whatever else may be hanging out on your grout. There are several great 'Green' products on the market as well, so depending on preference or how much build up there is a product for all needs.
Some of the benefits for 'going green include: biodegradable, non-carcinogenic, concentrated, non-combustible and gentler on the skin, not to mention the heavy fumes some products let off. You shouldn't need a gas mask to clean grout!
- Get a bucket & scrub brush: I would recommend a toothbrush as well as a grout brush. To save time and increase your effectiveness, we recommend aMulti Surface Floor Cleaner.
- Carefully read instructions. Many products require you to dilute the cleaning solution with cold water, and make sure you test a small area first to make sure it will work without ruining surface
- Use a sprayer to apply the solution to the grout and tile. Don’t panic if you results aren’t instant. Let the product sit there so it can effectively penetrate the dirty surface.. The longer it sits on the grout, the less scrubbing you’ll have to do! Now that's what we cal working smart!
- Time for the fun part!! Get your scrubber or prepare your multi surface cleaner, and it's time to battle that muck. The amount of scrubbing you will have to do all depends on how dirty the grout is, & effectiveness of your scrubbing tool or machine.
- Rinse surface thoroughly with water. TaaDaa! Your grout is sparkling and perfectly clean!
- To keep your grout looking clean longer, apply a sealant to keep out moisture and more. Check out the video below!
