Summer is here, so we thought we would compile a list for our readers to help stay on top of the housework. The summer is full of fun and sun, but it can't all be beaches and sunsets. Here's a list of the most important summer chores:
Air Conditioning Tune Up
AC Units can accumulate dust and dirt, making it less efficient. This may be the most important part of your house hold maintenance in the summer, we strongly recommend having your AC checked over by a local professional! It is usually quite affordable and will save you money and hassle in the long run.
Roof Check
Ensure you have a safe ladder before climbing up to check your roof. Here's what your looking for: Shingles that are buckling, curling or blistering, loose materials, wear around pipes or excessive shingle granules in the gutters. How to Clean Your Gutters
Clean Your Gutters
For gutters to work properly, they need to be clear of debris and leaves, if they aren't, the gutters and drainspouts will become clogged and eventually overflow, causing the gutters to become loose.
Window Check
Ensure all your windows and screens are in working condition. This is an excellent time of year to consider old, single pained windows that may not be regulating heat in your home.
Pressure Wash the Exterior of Your Home
Treat your beautiful home to a bath! Spend one day this summer pressure washing the outside of your home, not only will your house look nice and clean, it will also protect the siding from unnecessary wear and tear. If you don't want to do it yourself, hire a student!
Carpet Cleaning
Most of us aren't home much during the summer, this is a great time of year to get those inside carpets cleaned. Rent a carpet cleaner for the day, or if you have stubborn stains, or kids and pets, hire a carpet cleaner. Look for discounts and promotions in the mail, newspaper and even on Facebook!
Organize Laundry Room
The laundry room is one area of the home that we strongly recommend staying on top of. Even though it literally takes 15 minutes to reorganize this area, it's crucial to keeping a laundry system. Get rid of anything in there you no longer need, thoroughly sanitize the washer and dryer, and clean the lint trap!
