Space Saving Part I
Happy Sunday everyone! I have been working hard this past week turning our playroom into an office/craft/spare room. Utilizing the space you have in your home is essential to an organized home, and having a place for everything really helps to keep the house clean. "Everything has a place and there's a place for everything".
I started by sorting through the children's toys that take up a lot of space, or things they do not play with. These items got donated to Good Will. Kids toys should be in one of two places:
1. A corner of the house you don't mind having a designated play area.
2. In your children's room.
Ensure you have appropriate storage, this is key for space saving. The second task was to remove everything from the room. I had a closet full of office supplies, craft stuff, old papers and more. Shocking how much you can get in a closet.
Since our spare room is below ground, we wanted to brighten it up so we chose a light grey"White Metal" from Behr, the results were intense. We then removed the closet doors from the closet and started the organization process.
It's in the details…..
To add some depth to the room, we inserted fabric inside the closet, in addition to removing the doors this opens up the room. The next step was to purchase shelving and storage boxes from IKEA to help with the organizing. IKEA is a great place for space saving solutions. Beside the shelves I hung some frames with my favourite memories in. Having an office space that you enjoy being in is extremely important to productivity.
***Storage Boxes of different sizes will be helpful for you while sorting through closets and drawers***
I can't wait to share the space saving final project with you all, here are a couple photos from the progress so far! Just like your office, if your home is organized and looks the way you want it to; you will enjoy house cleaning even more!
Here is a sneak peek of this rejuvenated space. More updates to come.
